Time is Happening to us ALL...

When we were younger, good quality aging wasn’t even on our minds. As time goes on we realise how valuable every well-lived moment is. Time is happening to us all – and we don’t need to ignore it.

As we all live longer our focus is becoming increasingly on the quality of those extra years than just quantity. The wise want to live well NOW throughout that time – engaged, healthy, mentally alert and able to do the things they want to. Not only is this a direct benefit to us all, but maintains autonomy and wealth, as the NHS comes increasingly under strain. This is good for you and your family.

 

Chi Kung Supports SuperAging...

Chi Kung has always had longevity and good health at its heart. So, this course will:

 

look at the best Chi Kung exercises, methods and skills if being a Superager is important to you.

 

Western research has also been interested in those who already attain Superager status. It has highlighted a number of important common features of a Superagers life. During this course we will:

 

share some of this research with you,

show how Chi Kung supports those features

explain simple things you can do to impact the internal and external systems that influence the quality of life

 

We won’t give you more things you worry you should be doing but aren’t. The focus of the course is to help you feel comfortable you are doing the minimum necessary to live a long, healthy, active and fulfilling life – so that you can get on with being a SuperAger.

What challenges will you face with aging?

As we grow older lots of things fail for many people:

Memory

Ability to focus

Balance

Flexibility and strength

Loss of mobility

Sleep

Chronic illness

Discomfort and pain

These risks are associated with changes to the brain, the nervous system, the body’s “waste disposal” systems, and immune system, which can go into gradual or sudden decline. 

In turn, these things have an affect on people’s levels of stress and our ability to engage in and enjoy life.

The worry about these things can also be part of the problem.

It can become an unpleasant downward spiral into chronic ill health.

So, what can you do?

This is not about scaremongering. There is no point in worrying. Equally, ignoring it doesn’t address the challenges. However, it is useful to know what science and old traditions have shown prevent this decline.

People want to get on with their lives. They don’t want to become a slave to looking after their health.

What you'll get at the course...

The course will give you some simple physical, mind, breath and energy exercises that will address the issues of aging. No-one wants to spend all their time worrying about or doing exercises to try and stay healthy. Most people don’t have that kind of spare time. People want to get on with their lives but are prepared to do some things that maintain their health - keeping things flowing with a bit of preventative maintenance.  

Science has found that Superager’s body, brains and minds do some things really well and let them live a healthy, active and fulfilling life. Functions and systems like: neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, immune system, serotonin & dopamine, DNA repair, skin repair, weight gain and sleep.

So, we have focused on exercises that affect these systems and lead to the whole of you working well. The exercises we have chosen are the kinds of things you could practice in 10-15 minutes. We will also share with you what we have found works for us – tips and methods you can easily use if things get difficult for you during the day.

A weekend residential course

This course took place on Saturday 2nd March 2019. Due to the success and enjoyment of this course we are likely to run it again, possibly in 2020.

Accommodation can be booked direct with Monkton Wyld Court. The cost of the accommodation is in addition to the course fee. You do not have to stay at Monkton Wyld Court to do this course. If you prefer to stay somewhere else or just come to the course only, then this is an option for you.

Monkton Wyld Court also provide delicious organic meals. This is included in the full-board cost, but you can also pay for the meals separately if you are not staying. Most participants choose to stay there as we all get together for eating, chatting and sharing. As such it makes the whole experience more immersive for you.

I'd been to Tim's Qigong workshop the weekend before, and had already let go of a lot of old stuff. I've done quite a bit of tai chi and qigong, but the work with Tim was really something special.

I found this residential two day immersion in Qi Gong most helpful.
